This is by far the most interesting non-conference schedule that the Salukis have played in the Barry Hinson era.
Traveling to Kentucky to start the season will be an adventure for an SIU team that brings back 6 seniors from last years squad. So it makes sense to go play the best pay game you can get in the Midwest. How much will the Salukis get to play 40 minutes at Rupp Arena? Details have not been released by 75 to 100k would be my guess. Either way the Salukis just need to play this one reasonably close and the RPI and Strength of Schedule bump will be worth it.
What's up with the Wildcats this year? Check the quote below from CBS sports and you'll see Kentucky is locked and loaded with talent.
"Two of the top five scorers -- specifically PJ Washington and Quade Green -- are back from a team that advanced to the Sweet 16. Plus, graduate-transfer Reid Travis has committed. Plus, the nation's No. 2 recruiting class -- that improved in June when five-star point guard Ashton Hagans reclassified -- is set to enroll. So the Wildcats, on paper, look like the nation's best team"
